British Council International School Award

We are delighted to inform you that our school has been successful in gaining the International School Award and is accredited for three years from 1 September 2017 to 31 August 2020.

Some of the assessor’s comments are highlighted below:

This is an effective start to the International School Award life of the recently opened Dubai British School Jumeirah Park which meets the key criteria for Accreditation… Moreover there is enough here to show that DBSJP is already providing, as stated:

internationally linked curriculum opportunities which will enable our learners to explore links between their own lives and people, places and issues throughout the world. This will help them understand their role in creating a fair and sustainable world in the future.

Overall this current bid is very much a launch pad and the assessor is confident that the Reaccreditation application in 2020 will be significantly stronger. I hope that the scope of your excellent international activities will continue to develop and benefit the school community; your support, commitment, creativity and innovative international work is greatly appreciated.

As part of Taaleem’s strategy of continuous improvement and self-evaluation, Taaleem requires each school to pursue accreditation from an independent accreditation body of institutions and academic specialists.

Accreditation is the process used to ensure that schools meet and maintain international standards of quality and integrity regarding academics, administration and related services.

All Taaleem schools apply to become accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS), and some of our schools also attain authorisation and accreditation from the International Baccalaureate (IB) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), all global leaders in this field.

Leading Parent Partnership Awards

Raising Achievement by Involving Parents in the Work of our School

Involving yourself in your child’s education is an exciting challenge, with excellent benefits for your child, for you, for the school and for the local community. Research has identified that, at age 7, a parent’s influence on a child’s learning is six times that of their school and even at 11 years old, it is 29% greater. Increased involvement can raise achievement by at least 18%. No involvement means low or no qualifications at 16. We are using the Leading Parent Partnership Award (LPPA) to help strengthen our school’s partnership with parents. LPPA is a national award that will provide us with a valuable school improvement tool and also give us recognition for our commitment to working with parents.

The LPPA will help us achieve these long-term benefits:

• increase parent participation and involvement

• enhance parents’ support in their children’s learning

• improve communication between home and school.

• contribute to improved pupil attendance, punctuality, behaviour and progress
