Key Stage 4
As students transition into Key Stage 4 (KS4), the curriculum becomes more focused and specialised, building on the foundation laid in Years 7-9. During KS4, students work towards their General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) and or BTEC Level 2 Qualifications.
Key Stage 4 (Years 10-11): Focus and Specialisation
We offer a vast range of subjects to cater to the diverse needs and interests of our students, enabling them to carve out their future pathways.
Compulsory Subjects:
- English Language and English Literature
- Mathematics
- Science (Combined Science or Triple Science)
- Arabic A and Islamic A or B for Muslim students
- Arabic B (compulsory until the end of Year 10)
- Physical Education (PE)
- PSHE
- Moral Social and Cultural Studies (MSC)
Option Subjects:
In addition to core subjects, students can choose from a variety of option subjects based on their interests and career aspirations, including:
- Humanities: History and Geography
- Modern Foreign Languages: French, Spanish, Arabic
- Creative Arts: Art and Design, Graphic Communication, Photography, Music, Drama, BTEC Performing Arts
- Technology: Design and Technology, Food and Nutrition Technology, Computer Science, BTEC Information Technology
- Social Sciences: Psychology, Business Studies
- Specialised Pathways:
- At DBSJP, we also offer a variety of vocational courses providing practical skills and knowledge in areas such as ICT, Business Studies, Sport, and Performing Arts.
Extracurricular Opportunities:
We encourage students to engage in extracurricular activities to further develop their skills, interests, and personal growth outside of the classroom. These opportunities are designed based on student voice and led by our dedicated academic team members.
Assessment and Support:
Regular Assessments: Throughout KS4, students undergo regular assessments to monitor progress and ensure they are on track to achieve their academic goals.
Guidance and Support: Targeted support from teachers and pastoral teams ensures that students make informed choices about their options and future career paths, including preparation for post-16 education.
