Leadership Team

Our teaching team is highly experienced and talented with expertise in The National Curriculum for England (NCfE), and the highest educational and ethical standards, with the majority of teachers coming from the United Kingdom.

Teachers take part in regular professional development programmes to be at the forefront of the latest educational methodology. They are also ably assisted by an equally enthusiastic administrative and support team. With this we ensure stability and consistency that are vital factors in teacher-pupil relationships and successful learning.

Administrative staff are international and hired locally and internationally.

All our teachers and staff are carefully selected and trained in all aspects of children's welfare and safeguarding to ensure your child/ren have an enjoyable learning experience in a safe environment.

Heather joined Dubai British School Jumeirah Park from Sheikh Zayed Private Academy in Abu Dhabi, where she has been Principal since 2012. Having worked in the United Arab Emirates since 2008, Heather originally came to the country as Principal at Al Yasmina School in Abu Dhabi and then moved to Al Ain International School, before taking up her current post. Prior to moving to the United Arab Emirates, Heather led schools in the UK, in South London.

TANYA DREWHead of Secondary
Tanya graduated with a degree in Economics from Aberystwyth University in 1994. She then left her home country of Wales and started her teaching career in Bedfordshire, England. In addition to teaching Economics and Business Studies she has performed a variety of Leadership and Management roles, both pastoral and curriculum. Tanya has just completed 4 successful and very enjoyable years as Head of Secondary at Taaleem’s Dubai British School (DBS).

MELISSA SKILESHead of Student Support
Melissa earned her BA in Creative Writing from Missouri State University, where she was honoured with a Soul of a Poet reading series feature. She continued at DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois to complete her Master of Education degree and spent six years teaching and working as a teaching and learning leader in both public and charter schools. She is a licensed teacher and certified Learning Behaviour Specialist and has taught all content areas, both in general and special education classrooms, spanning from FS2 to the secondary years. She most recently completed a tenure as a founding school leader in Qatar before moving to the UAE to join DBSJP.
Kathryn graduated with a BA Honours in Education in 1998 and began teaching in London. For the first few years of her career she taught a range of ages and took on the role of Leader of Mathematics. In September 2003, she moved to Woodmansterne Primary School and it was here she progressed quickly to an Assistant Head teacher and then became the Deputy Head teacher. Throughout her time at Woodmansterne, Kathryn was responsible for curriculum development and inclusion through the whole school. In August 2014 she completed a Master in Education Leadership and Management. Before moving to DBSJP, Kathryn was the Deputy Head of Primary at Dubai British School in the Springs.
Dawn RennieDirector of Development and Admissions
Dawn studied Hospitality and Front of House Management at Harlow College, England. She held various positions in well-known hotel chains and moved then into the airline industry where she worked for a few years as a Senior cabin crewmember with Britannia Airways. After leaving the airline industry, Dawn started a successful E-commerce business until relocating to Dubai in 2011.

DAVID TALBERTHead of Technology Integration
David graduated with a BSc Hons in Computing with Business Management in 2004 and began his teaching career at St Michael’s Catholic School in London as a classroom teacher and ICT Across the Curriculum coordinator. He progressed into the role of Head of Computer Science & Network Manager at St Saviour’s & St Olave’s school in London in 2007 where he was awarded a Commendation in the Teacher of the Year category for the Teacher Awards in 2011. In 2013, he joined Highgate Wood School, London as Head of Computer Science, followed by completing MA in Education and Professional Studies at King’s College London in 2015. He joined DBSJP in 2016.
MIKE STEWARTDeputy Head of Primary
Mike graduated with a B.Ed. Primary Honours degree in 2000 and began his teaching career on the Isle of Wight in the United Kingdom. Since that time he has accumulated 13 years of teaching experience and his international experience spans seven years, where he worked in various teaching and leadership positions for ALDAR Academies in Abu Dhabi. Mike joined DBSJP from his most recent post as an Assistant Principal of Al Yasmina School.

Nancy HassanHead of Arabic Department
Nancy received her degree from Ain Shams University in Egypt and then started her career as an Arabic teacher in Modern International School in Egypt for 6 years. After that she travelled with her husband to Dubai, UAE. She worked as an Arabic teacher and coordinator for 10 years in different Dubai schools, both American and British curriculum. Nancy enjoys teaching all ages of students and has taken a key role in enriching the curriculum including taking students on field trips to historic places and museums to improve the information about the Arabic culture.
